Cyclists crossing of the A65 at Gildersleets
There have been various meetings between the club and officials of both NYCC and Craven District Coucil,
sometimes involving councillors.
The present position is that the highways planners are looking at a proposal for a cycleway along the
Rathmell side of the A65 that would allow cyclists to cross directly into the road leading to
Settle and Giggleswick.
This would be a two-way cycleway so that cyclists travelling towards Rathmell
could cross directly, and then use the cycleway.
The club’s prefered option, using the old road, was rejected owing to vociferous opposition from
some of the local residents.
